Mr. Christopher Byrd is an associate with Gilbert Employment Law, focusing on the representation of whistleblowers with claims under the False Claims Act or who have been subjected to retaliation in violation of federal or private sector whistleblower protection statutes.  Mr. Byrd also represents federal and private sector employees with claims of discrimination or retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and related state and local laws.  Mr. Byrd’s practice includes litigating on behalf of clients in federal and state courts, as well as administrative tribunals such as the Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Merit Systems Protection Board.

Prior to joining Gilbert Employment Law as an Associate Attorney, Mr. Byrd served as a law clerk with the firm. Following his first year of law school, Mr. Byrd externed for the Government Accountability Project under the direction and guidance of Tom Devine. Mr. Byrd also worked for Gilbert Employment Law as a litigation paralegal for four years prior to attending law school. While working as a paralegal, Mr. Byrd served as the paralegal editor for the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association newsletter and as an editorial assistant for the 2018 edition of the Consolidated Federal Sector EEO Update.

Mr. Byrd graduated with his Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law.  In law school, Mr. Byrd was elected and served as the Managing Editor for the Administrative Law Review. Mr. Byrd also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The George Washington University.
